RICHMOND, VA (Rocktown Now) – The Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation recently awarded more than $3 million in grants to nonprofit organizations in multiple states.

Grant recipients will teach healthy eating and gardening to children in underserved communities, expand access to financial education services in rural communities, provide trauma-informed mental health services, expedite adoptions from foster care, rehabilitate native wildlife and expand day programs for older adults in need, increase access to affordable housing, Providing emergency shelter and supporting the arts, among other things.

Nearly $2.4 million was awarded to 171 Virginia nonprofits, including:

• Home Renewal in Greater Augusta, Staunton, VA

• Blue Ridge CASA for Children, Staunton, VA

• Adagio House Valley, Harrisonburg, VA

• Associates for Independent Living, Harrisonburg, VA

• James Madison University Foundation, Harrisonburg, VA

• Wildlife Center of Virginia, Waynesboro, VA

“Nonprofits play a critical role in improving the quality of life in local communities,” said Hunter A. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. “We are pleased to be able to provide grants to support their efforts. We are committed to having a positive impact on the communities where Dominion Energy operates.”

Funding is available to organizations in areas where Dominion Energy supplies electricity or natural gas or has significant business interests. These include Virginia, South Carolina, northeastern North Carolina, Connecticut, and parts of West Virginia and Rhode Island.
