28 years later: In the trailer, fans puzzle over Cillian Murphy’s fate

“28 Years Later” takes place almost three decades after the first film, when a “rage virus” that catastrophically infected people escaped from a biological weapons laboratory.

In the third film we meet a group of survivors who live in quarantine on a small island and have managed to avoid infection.

But when one of them leaves the island on a mission to the mainland, he discovers secret horrors that have mutated not only the infected, but also the survivors.

The film’s tagline is: “Time has healed nothing.”

The trailer begins with a look back at the popular children’s television show Teletubbies, which first aired in 1997. Several children gathered around an old television while the lively theme song played harmlessly – yet menacingly – in the background.

The action soon begins with several battle scenes, while an ominous, rhyming recording of Rudyard Kipling’s war poem “Boots” can be heard in the background.

The windows of a church are smashed before the camera pans out to a rural island where wooden crosses with rosaries hanging from them can be seen all over the world.

Some graffiti can be seen on what looks like a farmhouse: “Behold, he comes with the clouds” – a verse from the first chapter of the Bible’s Revelation, with “Jimmy” scrawled next to it in white paint.

Could this be a reference to Murphy’s character Jim?
