The absence of Gabriel Magalhaes and Riccardo Calafiori from Arsenal’s starting XI caused concern among fans before kick-off, but there was no major cause for concern. Their substitutes Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko helped their fellow defenders maintain a composed defensive line.

Arsenal’s defense restricted United very little, allowing the visitors just five shots and an xG of 0.35.

It was a performance that showed how calm and composed the Gunners can be at the back. Despite conceding a worryingly low number of goals in recent weeks, players like William Saliba and Co. are still very capable of dominating opposing attackers.

Although they didn’t produce much, Man United caused Arsenal some problems on Wednesday night, particularly in the early stages.

The Red Devils strained the Gunners’ defensive line at times as they concentrated on attacking through their wider players. However, it wasn’t of much use as Arsenal managed to limit the visitors to just six touches of the ball in their penalty area.

The problems United caused will still worry Mikel Arteta, but he will be happy his side were able to claim victory.
