5 potential quarterback goals for Auburn Football in the transfer portal

5 potential quarterback goals for Auburn Football in the transfer portal

Since the transfer portal is officially open until December 28th, there is no more important position for Auburn than the quarterback.

Payton Thorne, Hank Brown and Holden Geriner are about to leave the program, which means that the Tigers currently only have two scholarships quarters backs, the new newcomer Deice Knight and the newcomer to newcomer Walker White.

Hugh Freeze said on the day of the signing of the contract that he is planning to add four scholarships quarters in the squad in 2025, which means that Auburn would have to add two via the transfer portal. A number of well -known quarterbacks have already entered the portal, which offers Freeze and the employees options.

Here are five possible goals:

Ashton Daniels, Stanford

At the moment Daniel’s most likely quarterback seems to be that Auburn will commit, although he will probably not be the only one.

Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong from On3 reported that Auburn is in the lead for Daniels, and predicted that the Tigers would land the Stanford signal caller.

Daniels’ figures for 2024 do not necessarily fall off the crowd, because it achieved 1,700 yards and 10 touchdowns, but 12 interceptions. As a runner, however, he was effective and achieved 669 yards and three touchdowns.

In view of the offensive of Auburn and Freeze, the obligation of a quarterback with a double threat could be a priority. Even if Daniels’ pass numbers are nothing special, his style could fit on the offensive.

If Auburn is committed to Daniels, it will probably still try to hire another transfer quarters, which means that a starting job is not a guarantee for Daniel.

Kaidon Salter, Freedom

Salter has the most obvious connection to Auburn compared to the other potential goals, since he played at Freeze at Liberty for two years.

It fits in the way Freeze likes to go on the offensive, and it would not require a large learning curve to get back into the system. Salter’s best season at Liberty was in 2023 when he threw 2,876 yards and 32 touchdowns while scoring 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns in the rushing.

However, his numbers declined in 2024 and made 1,886 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions, while he achieved 587 yards and seven touchdowns in the rushing.

On3 reported that Auburn, together with Colorado and the UCLA, showed “interest” in salt.

Jackson Arnold, Oklahoma

In view of his changeable success in Oklahoma, Arnold is one of the most fascinating quarterback options as a recruit.

During his newcomer season in 2024, Arnold threw 1,421 yards, 12 touchdowns and three interceptions in 10 games, but was relatively strong for two games shortly before the middle of the season, but completed the year relatively strongly.

In the second half of the year he let the ball run more often and ended the season with 444 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Oklahoma achieved his most remarkable mileage in the surprising victory over Alabama, where he ran a long time with 25 runs 131 yards.

If you look at Arnold’s numbers for 2024, it is worth mentioning which injuries Oklahoma suffered as a wide receiver and how the general dysfunction of the offensive is under the now dismissed offensive coordinator Seth Litrell.

However, it could be difficult for Auburn to win Arnold because he worked with Jeff Lebby, head coach of Mississippi State, who was his offensive coordinator in Oklahoma in 2023. On3 reported on Monday that Mississippi State was a “top school that should be kept in mind”. Regarding Arnold and predicted that he would sign the Bulldogs.

Darian Mensah, Tulane

Mensah was one of the country’s best Group-of Quarterbacks this season and threw 2,723 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions, as a newcomer.

These figures contributed to the American Athletic Conference Championship game that Tulane and the head coach of the first year, John Sumrall, came to the American Athletic Conference Conference. He also had a QBR of 76.5 and thus took fourth place among the quarterbacks of the starting group of 5.

Its rushing numbers are not as productive as that of the other players on the list, but he remains one of the best available quarterback options in the transfer portal.

Chandler Morris, Nordexas

Morris is one of the latest portal entries, on3 reports on his plans to enter the transfer portal on Monday.

He has had a season in North Texas, in which he threw 3,774 yards and 31 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions. Morris also ran 242 yards and four touchdowns in 2024.

Before his season at the Mean Green, Morris spent three seasons at TCU and one at Oklahoma. In 2023 he had his best season at Power-4 level at TCU, where he threw 1,532 yards, 12 touchdowns and five interceptions.
