Friends and family of Broadway actor Gavin Creel (hair, Hello, Dolly!), who died September 30 at age 48, will host a memorial service at the St. James Theater on Monday, December 2, at 4 p.m. EST. The event is public. To gain entry to the celebration, please email your name and contact information to [email protected].

To increase accessibility, the memorial service will be livestreamed in the US and UK. This celebration will be broadcast live only and will not be available to watch on-demand. Click here for the link to watch the live stream on the MCC Theater YouTube channel. The MCC Theater presented Creel’s original musical Walk On Through: Confessions of a Museum Newbie last year.

In the UK, the live stream will be available on the Society of London Theater YouTube channel here. Gavin Creel, an Olivier Award winner, has made a huge impact on the London theater scene with his passionate charity work, particularly with Acting For Others.

Donations in Creel’s memory are encouraged to be made to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.

In addition to the memorial, the lights will be dimmed in every Broadway theater on Tuesday, December 3 at 6:45 p.m. to honor Creel’s impact on the international theater community. MCC will also dim its lights.
