Where the Big Ten teams rank in the playoff round

The biggest week of the first 12-team College Football Playoff has arrived.

The penultimate set of the CFP rankings were released Tuesday ahead of this weekend’s conference championship games. This was the final rankings announcement ahead of the final 12-team round on Sunday. The Big Ten matchup between No. 1 Oregon and No. 3 Penn State for the Big Ten Championship could have significant implications for the final round. Still, involving a conference member seems the least consequential.

The undefeated Ducks retained their top spot in the rankings and finished as the only undefeated FBS teamM. Despite Ohio State’s surprising upset loss to rival Michigan in “The Game,” the Buckeyes did not fall in the rankings as much as expected. At the same time, Penn State and Indiana maintained their spots in the group.

The Big Ten and SEC each send four representatives to the current 12-team CFP field, although things could change by the end of the week. Here’s how the Big Ten fared in the fourth round of the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday:
