Draymond Green is not taking any risks due to his calf injury.

The Warriors star explained the nature of his injury and his approach to rehab while speaking to Baron Davis on Tuesday’s episode of “The Draymond Green Show.”

“My thing this season has been that when I’m healthy, I’m going to be on the court,” Green told Davis. “I’ve been a bit under the weather in the last few games, but I still feel healthy enough to go on the field and try to help my team. I started getting this calf lift in my left calf. In 2022, before I missed those three months, there were games where I felt like my left glute was very tight. It subsided a bit and then came back again.

“And I thought, ‘Oh, this is a symptom because I was playing games,’ and I didn’t know what I was dealing with. This time I can better control some of the symptoms I was feeling and know, “Okay, you felt this, you might need to slow down.”

Green is currently battling a left calf issue that arose during the Warriors’ loss to the Phoenix Suns last Saturday. Given the delicate nature of calf muscle injuries, Green is somewhat concerned, but believes that by resting the calf muscle the problem will resolve itself.

“I’ll be 100 percent honest, I’m a little scared,” Green told Davis. “But when I say that, I have confidence in our employees. I am confident that I can get ahead of this now because the smartest thing to do is to get infected immediately if I already have these symptoms.”

Although Golden State has started the season well, the team has lost four games and is suffering from injuries to Green, Steph Curry and De’Anthony Melton.

The franchise will have to rely on its deep bench to bridge the gap on offense and defense in a number of crucial games. Even though the Warriors are in the thick of the Western Conference playoffs, they can’t afford to fall too far behind in the standings early in the season.

As long as Green continues his cautious approach to injury recovery, he should have no problems returning to the court sooner rather than later.
