Red Sox Insider shares new details about Boston’s Juan Soto pursuit

The Red Sox are apparently digging deep into their resources to bring Juan Soto to Boston.

David Ortiz has been open about his efforts to put Soto in a Red Sox jersey. But according to MLB.com’s Ian Browne, Big Papi isn’t the only Boston fan favorite who has spoken to the superstar outfielder on behalf of the Red Sox.

“From what I’ve heard, from David Ortiz to Rafael Devers to maybe even Dustin Pedroia, they’ve tried to trade Soto,” Browne wrote in a column published Tuesday. “I don’t think they’re doing all this just to stimulate the market. They want this guy.”

This is certainly a solid possibility for the Sox. Ortiz and Pedroia can both speak to Soto about the legendary status that comes with winning multiple World Series titles in Boston. Devers can also contribute on the championship front, but as the face of the franchise, the star third baseman can offer one of the better perspectives on the Red Sox’s current state and promising future.

To be clear, Soto’s free agency decision will mostly be about money. But with Boston competing with other competitive clubs in the Soto sweepstakes, it can’t hurt to have a trio of superstar announcers in its corner.
