We already know that women rule the world, but for the first time ever, they all dominated the Spotify streaming charts too.
2024 marks the first year that the top five most-streamed albums worldwide are all by women, this year’s Spotify Wrapped stats show, with a number of familiar faces filling the coveted spots. To no one’s surprise, Taylor Swift was named the most listened-to artist this year thanks to her 11th studio album with a whopping 26 billion streams. The Tortured Poets Departmentand their billion-dollar Eras Tour, which has captivated audiences for two years. After Swift came Billie Eilish’s Hit me hard and soft second is Sabrina Carpenter’s Short and sweet in third place Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito in the fourth and Ariana Grandes Eternal sunshine each in fifth place. When it comes to the world’s best artists of the year, Swift is followed by The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake and Billie Eilish.
Another pop great, Beyoncé, also had an impact on the Spotify charts this year. Along with fellow artist Shaboozey, the two groundbreaking artists have helped introduce 38 million first-time listeners to the country genre thanks to their respective records.
