Winter weather warning north of Detroit

A snow squall warning is in effect for St. Clair County until 11:15 p.m

A winter weather advisory has been issued for St. Clair, Lapeer and Sanilac counties from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday.

Snow showers will increase in extent and intensity this evening. When traveling, be careful of poor visibility and slippery roads. Most areas could see 1 to 3 inches of snowfall with very strong winds. Nasty wind chill.

We’ll end the week dry on Friday, with highs around 30° and brighter skies, while temperatures gradually climb into the 40s by Sunday.

Tonight: Snow showers and squalls are expected as roads are likely to be slick where it snows. Snow totals will be 1 to 2 inches in most areas, with up to 3 inches in some places. Lows will be in the low 20s with wind chills in the single digits. Wind: W 20 to 40 mph.

Thursday: It will be very windy to start the day with wind chill near zero. Mostly cloudy with a chance of a few snow showers. Highs are in the upper 20s, while wind chills never get above the teens.
Wind: WNW 20-35 mph and gusts up to 40 mph, especially in the morning.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, windy and cool with highs around 30°. Wind: W 10-20 mph.
