Mavericks vs. Wizards Final Score: Dallas defeated Washington, 137-101

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Washington Wizards 137-101 in a game that was never close.

After a thrilling victory that came down to the final minute, Dallas enjoyed a well-deserved reprieve as they rolled into Washington and quickly built a lead that was never in danger. It’s not so much a “receiving experience” as it is a deep, deep immersion into the nature of La-Z-Boy gaming. And where is the damage?

Kyrie Irving stayed strong on offense, scoring 25 points on a decent 10 of 16 from the field. Luka Doncic contributed 21 points as well as a block and two steals, keeping pace with his 1.8 steals per game, which ranks him 10th in the league.

Overall, a nice, relaxed and airy Dub. Just enough to work up a sweat and keep going before the knockout rounds of the NBA Cup.

Just a matter of time

Doncic spent much of last season looking like an unstoppable triple-double machine. It’s a little surprising that he hasn’t achieved this feat so far this year. But if ever there was a team that could take that money away from him, it’s Washington.

Just a minute and a half into the fourth quarter, Doncic recorded his first triple-double with his 10th assist to the ever-reliable Daniel Gafford.

However, the fact that Doncic doesn’t have a triple-double is no reason to panic. As much fun as it is, watching him become superhuman should be beneficial for Dallas. They have other guys helping out and sharing the load in all aspects of the game.

Stat stuffing in hard mode

Dereck Lively didn’t play in the fourth quarter because the game was already in full swing at that point, but he managed to grab 11 boards in the three quarters he played. The surprise is that seven of those 11 were offensive boards. This is difficult at any time, and even more difficult when your team doesn’t even make many missed shots.

Dallas shot just over 52% from the field through three quarters, making 37 shots and missing just 34. Of those 34, Lively grabbed seven rebounds.

Will it be like this forever?

In Spencer Dinwiddie’s case, I certainly hope so.

After hitting two big 3-pointers late against Memphis, he came out on top against the Wizards, going 4 of 5 from deep.

Dallas’ offense will always run through Luka and Kyrie, but what makes this team so dangerous is that they have maybe three or four players on the roster who can get hot at any moment and make Dallas almost uncontrollable.

Naji Marshall has done it recently, Klay Thompson can undoubtedly go nuclear, and Spencer Dinwiddie is showing that there’s just something about getting the most out of him in a Maverick uniform.
