What you need to know

Path of Exile 2 is one of the most anticipated games of this year – an ARPG coming to Early Access.
Due to the large influx of players, the development team made some last-minute updates to their database to handle the traffic.
Because of this, players cannot log in, but everything will be fixed soon!

Update as of December 6 at 12:22 p.m. PT: The launch is “relatively imminent,” according to the Path of Exile X page. This came after another delay was mentioned and I think we can all be grateful that it was caught.

One of the most anticipated games of 2024, Path of Exile 2 is a sequel to one of the most successful ARPGs not called Diablo. The first entry was published in 2013 and has become very popular in the community over the last decade. For many, Path of Exile is the greatest ARPG of all time, so it’s no surprise that the sequel sold over 1 million copies before its Early Access release.

Path of Exile 2 was scheduled to release at 1pm CST, and based on Steam numbers, over a quarter of a million players were expecting the same. However, due to the large number of new players opting for Early Access, the development team decided to introduce a last-minute database upgrade to address the player count. In a tweet about 45 minutes before release, Grinding Gear Games announced the patch.

We’re making some last-minute database upgrades to help accommodate the overwhelming volume of Exiles preparing to log into Path of Exile 2. We’ll try to get this done as quickly as possible, but there may be a short delay in the servers going live.December 6, 2024

After the launch, they announced that the process was still ongoing. Now we have a more precise schedule. Just a few minutes ago, the developers on X announced that anyone could get started within the next half hour.

We’ve deployed the new database configuration and are working on getting everything working again. According to our current time estimates, access should be open within the next half hour.
