“Oppenheimer” star Nick Dumont comes out as transmasculine, non-binary

“Oppenheimer” star Nick Dumont is transgender and non-binary, a rep for the actor told TMZ on Thursday.

Dumont, 30, recently changed his Instagram profile to list his pronouns as “they/them” and his name as “Nick Dumont.” Her handle on the social media platform will remain @EmmaDumont.

“You identify as a transmasculine, non-binary person,” a representative for Dumont said in a statement to TMZ on Thursday. “Their working name will continue to be Emma Dumont, but to friends and family they will be called Nick.”

HuffPost has reached out to Dumont for comment.

The North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology describes Transmasculinity includes “those who identify as transgender men and those who identify on the male side” of the gender spectrum. (Someone who is nonbinary Strictly speaking, neither identifies as a man nor a woman.)

Dumont hasn’t publicly addressed the change herself, but shared a carousel of new Instagram photos on Tuesday showing her in casual T-shirts, a leather jacket and shorter, medium-length hair.

The former child actor landed his first major role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Inherent Vice” (2014) alongside Joaquin Phoenix. A two-season run on Fox’s “The Gifted” earned them a spot on IndieWire’s 2017 list of “25 Breakout Stars Poised To Make It Big.”

Dumont was later cast in Anderson’s follow-up, Licorice Pizza. Over the summer, they appeared as the title character’s sister-in-law, Jackie Oppenheimer, in Christopher Nolan’s 2023 blockbuster – which became a cultural phenomenon alongside Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie.”

Dumont has previously spoken out about her decision to become an actor, telling Issue Magazine in 2018 that she “always knew I wanted to be an actor because I love making people laugh.” I need a lot Attention. Let’s just say it.”
