After a 3-0 loss to ranked teams, No. 22 Louisville women’s basketball will look to win its toughest test yet: undefeated UConn.
The Cardinals (5-3) and second-seeded Huskies (7-0) will face off tonight at Barclays Center in game two of the Women’s Champions Classic. The game is tentatively scheduled for 9 p.m., but will begin after the conclusion of the game between No. 20 Iowa and Tennessee.
Louisville has only beaten UConn three times in 22 meetings. His most recent win was a 69-64 decision on December 19, 2021 in Uncasville, Connecticut. The Cardinals reached the Final Four this season.
“He’s a good friend,” Louisville coach Jeff Walz said of Huskies coach Geno Auriemma, who holds the record for most wins (1,220) among men’s and women’s college basketball coaches. “I was always very, very impressed with what they did up there, the consistency with which they did it. We’ve had some really good games and I’m hoping Saturday will be the same.”
