The Georgia Bulldogs are 2024 SEC Champions! Georgia defeated the Texas Longhorns 22-19 in the first overtime in SEC Championship history.

UGA made it without their starting quarterback as Carson Beck left the game after being hit on a Hail Mary attempt at the end of the first half. Backup quarterback Gunner Stockton helped Georgia overcome a 6-3 halftime deficit and did just enough to allow Georgia to beat a very talented Texas team.

Georgia forced Texas into countless errors. The Bulldogs forced three turnovers and recorded six sacks and 16 tackles for a loss. Georgia’s defense shut down Texas’ running game and did not allow the Longhorns a single touchdown in the red zone the entire game.

Head coach Kirby Smart scored a daring fake punt on his own side of the 50 that helped UGA score a field goal and eat up some time in the second half.

SEC Championship MVP Georgia cornerback Daylen Everette intercepted Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers twice. The Dawgs won the battle in the trenches en route to Georgia’s third SEC championship of the Kirby Smart era.

What did Georgia football fans and media say on social media after UGA won the SEC Championship game?

“Dawgs can do it,” former Georgia quarterback JT Daniels said on social media.

“SEC champs, baby!!” said former Georgia running back Herschel Walker.

“It’s hard to beat the Georgia Bulldogs. You give everyone the best shot and just win. Congratulations,” said Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin.

“It’s hard to beat a great team twice… But it’s apparently even harder to beat Georgia’s worst team in seven years once,” one UGA fan said on social media.
