Drew Lock had the worst start by a quarterback in recent history

Drew Lock didn’t complete a pass until the start of the first quarter. It wasn’t because the New York Giants were focused on the run game. Lock attempted 10 passes before his first completion.

The inefficiencies were due to a mix of many factors. The New Orleans Saints got in on the fight with two Bryan Bresee pass deflections. The Saints also did a good job of putting constant pressure on the Giants quarterback.

There were also some unforced errors in the game. Lock had several players drop catchable passes. The Saints defenders played strong both times and there’s a chance they felt the steps.

Tips and drops aside, some of the incompletions were just because Drew Lock was Drew Lock.

This is the worst start by a Giants quarterback in nearly a century. The Saints once played Kendall Hinton, a wide receiver who was forced to play quarterback. Even he got his first degree before Drew Lock.
