The weather forecast for Erie Pa includes higher temperatures, rain and then more snow

Erie County may experience minor flooding as warmer temperatures and rain are expected.
Residents are advised to clean drains so that meltwater and rain enter the drainage systems.
Temperatures are expected to drop again later in the week, bringing a high chance of more lake snow.

As Erie County continues to dig out the snow that fell from Thanksgiving night through Saturday morning, National Weather Service forecasters warn that minor flooding could be next.

Temperatures will be in the 40s Sunday through Tuesday and showers are forecast for Monday and Tuesday. Both will serve to melt some of the county’s deep snowpack. “Ground conditions will become waterlogged and localized flooding, particularly of low-lying and poorly drained areas, is possible,” the weather service reported in its severe weather outlook.

“There will be a lot of water early next week,” NWS-Cleveland meteorologist Karen Clark told Times-News reporter AJ Rao on Friday.

The weather service and local authorities advise residents to clear drains to prevent meltwater and rain from entering drainage systems.

3-day weather forecast for Erie County

The weather service in Cleveland is forecasting high temperatures of around 43 degrees Sunday, with westerly winds possibly gusting to 36 miles per hour before easing in the afternoon. The low will be around 37.

The weather service said showers are almost certain to occur Monday, especially after 7 a.m. and reaching up to a quarter to half an inch. The maximum value will be around 45.

Rain chances will decrease Monday, but the temperature is expected to remain in the upper 40s even at its low.

Showers are expected on Tuesday afternoon, especially after 1 p.m. Rainfall amounts of a tenth to a quarter of an inch are possible. The high temperature could be around 50.

Rain showers are expected on Tuesday night, possibly mixed with snow showers. The low will be around 34.

More lake effect snowfall is forecast

Temperatures are expected to fall on Wednesday, with the early high around 38°C but the low around 20°C. The high on Thursday will be around 26°C and the low will be around 18°C. according to initial forecasts.
