It all started with USA TODAY’s viral job posting for the world’s first full-time, dedicated Taylor Swift reporter in the summer of 2023. The memories I made may be unique to me, but the general themes are to anyone who was there , one or more Eras Tour shows.
You can read about what it was like to travel four continents on this tour in a personal review here.
And even though this chapter is coming to an end, Swift is already working on her next project. In the foreword to her official concert book she wrote: “See you in the next era.” It’s one I want to report on.
Bryan West shares everything I spent a year covering Taylor Swift’s Eras tour around the world. That’s how it was
While fans may be reeling and asking, “Is it over now?” The answer is yes. At least according to Swift. She has said multiple times that Vancouver will be the last show.
During the “All Too Well” section of the 100th Eras Tour show in Liverpool, Swift told the audience: “This is the very first time that I’m owning up and admitting to myself that this tour is going to end in December.” That very last night will be Sunday.
The Eras Tour is over Why it was what we desperately needed. What now?
North of False Creek in downtown Vancouver, Canada lies BC Place Stadium. The British Columbia Arena – with the largest cable-supported sliding roof in the world – opened in 1983 and can accommodate more than 50,000 fans. Swift is the first artist to sell out three shows on a single tour. There is a 140-foot-long inflatable friendship bracelet at the front of the stadium. Shawn Kolodny, a contemporary artist and sculptor, designed the jewelry for Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The art was then passed on to subsequent exhibitions in Indianapolis, Toronto and now Vancouver.
Taylor Swift released her own official Eras tour book with more than 500 images from the show and new insights into the production. According to Circana’s BookScan, which tracks the majority of print market sales, the book sold 814,000 copies in its first week. This makes the behind-the-scenes collector’s item the second highest-selling adult non-fiction release, following Barack Obama’s memoir A Promised Land, which sold 816,300 copies in 2020.
Complementing Swift’s work is USA TODAY Network’s “This Swift Beat,” which tracks the news, impact and fans of the songwriter’s magnum opus. We haven’t sold anywhere near 800,000 copies, but we haven’t given up hope!
You can also do what we did: watch the Eras Tour concert film.
The third version of the film, released to Disney+ subscribers with unlimited replays, included “Cardigan” and four bonus acoustic songs that were removed from the second version, released last year on December 13, on Swift’s birthday. The streaming service has even customized its menu with the singer’s 10 albums, movies and shows that fit each era. And parents, remember that curse words are not hidden.
Rising singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams opened for Taylor Swift on the entire final North American leg of the Eras Tour.
The two collaborated on the song “Us.” on Abrams’ album “The Secret of Us.”
On the second night in Vancouver, Swift invited Abrams to the stage for the penultimate acoustic set of the record-breaking tour.
“You met my friend Gracie earlier, right?” Swift poked fun at Abrams for repeatedly performing for her during the tour. “She’s also my friend, and when I went on the Eras tour, I kind of made an invisible decision to invite artists on that tour that felt like family.”
Swift, wearing a shimmering black dress, encouraged the 25-year-old starlet to sing two of her songs with her. They mixed Abrams’ “I Love You, I’m Sorry” and Swift’s “Last Kiss.” This is the fourth time Abrams has joined Swift on stage during the acoustic section.
Unless you’re on the Pacific coast, it’s going to be late at night!
Here are the approximate times opening act Gracie Abrams will take the stage, Taylor Swift will perform, and the surprise songs should appear.
