Dave Franco appears as suspect Luigi Mangione and triggers an uncanny resemblance

Actor Dave Franco is trending on social media because he bears a striking resemblance to Luigi Mangione, the suspect in the recent shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

According to NYPD Detective Jessica Tisch, Mangione, 26, was arrested at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He was carrying several fake IDs, a firearm with a silencer and a US passport.

When Mangione’s photos surfaced online, social media users noticed his uncanny resemblance to Franco. Some even joked about casting Franco in an inevitable film adaptation of the case.

Mangione, an academic achiever with master’s and bachelor’s degrees in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania, also lists 295 books on his Goodreads profile. He was valedictorian of Gilman School in Baltimore and added an unexpected layer of intrigue to his profile as a suspect in such a high-profile crime.

Meanwhile, NYPD detectives are traveling to Pennsylvania to further question Mangione about the murder of Brian Thompson, who was fatally shot on a Manhattan sidewalk last week. As the investigation continues, Franco’s name remains part of the social media conversation, fueled by calls for his casting in an adaptation of the case.
