DALLAS – MIke Tauchman’s next big moment on the field will come for the White Sox, as the left-handed hitting outfielder has agreed to a major league deal with the club, a source told MLB.com on Monday night.

The contract is believed to be for one year, but the team has not confirmed it. Tauchman played the last two seasons for the Cubs and hit a walk-off home run on the second pitch he saw from Michael Kopech in the ninth inning to secure a 7-6 victory over the South on June 5 at Wrigley Field Siders to achieve. The veteran, who turned 34 on Dec. 3, has played in 474 games in seven seasons and could serve as a left-handed platoon in right field alongside recently signed right-hander Austin Slater.

General manager Chris Getz mentioned earlier Monday that there is outside interest in center fielder Luis Robert Jr. and that left fielder Andrew Benintendi could also be a trade candidate. Any of these players being dealt could mean more playing time for Tauchman. The Palatine, Illinois native has played 150 games in left field, 135 in center field and 117 in right field.

“There is interest from a lot of these guys, and Andrew is one of them,” Getz said. “Once again, you’re doing what’s best for the organization and we’re having these conversations.”
