Auburn Football 2024 Transfer Portal Tracker

The winter transfer portal window is officially open and several members of the 2024 Auburn football roster are planning their next move.

As expected, many are looking for a fresh start in their college careers, including those who wore the orange and blue in 2024. Auburn will also look to fill needs with applicants from other programs to continue its rebuilding efforts.

The transfer portal window will be crucial for Hugh Freeze and his coaching staff as they look to improve on their 5-7 record in 2024. Several areas of need include quarterback, running back, tight end, defensive line and secondary.

Transfer portal important dates, notes

winter Transfer window dates: December 9th – December 28th

Dates for the spring window: April 16th – April 25th

Further information: (From Badgers Wire) Graduate transfers can be made at any time through the portal. Players whose coaches have been fired have a full 30 days to enter the portal without restrictions. Players participating in postseason games have five days after their season ends to enter the portal – particularly for College Football Playoff rounds leading up to the national title game.

Quarterback Holden Geriner was the first Tiger to declare his intention to transfer. He will leave Auburn after rushing for 116 yards and zero touchdowns in three seasons on the Plains.

Austin Perryman/Auburn Athletics

Tight end Grant Hidalgo is entering the transfer portal after appearing in four games over the past two seasons.

Out: DL Gage Keys

Keys failed to become a starter on the defensive line this season and has decided to enter the transfer portal after one season on the Plains. He appeared in two games this season and failed to record any statistics.

Brown brought a huge presence to Auburn’s receiving room, but didn’t become a mainstay in the rotation. In three seasons at Auburn, Brown recorded 26 catches for 289 yards and three touchdowns.

From: QB Hank Brown

Zach Bland/Auburn Tigers

Hank Brown seemed to be the answer to Auburn’s QB problems earlier this season. However, after throwing three interceptions in Auburn’s 24-14 loss to Arkansas, Brown did not play for the remainder of the season. Brown rushed for 535 yards and six touchdowns in two seasons at Auburn.

Out: WR Caleb Burton

Zach Bland/Auburn Tigers

Caleb Burton transferred from Ohio State to Auburn in hopes of becoming a key contributor at wide receiver. After the 2023 season in which he recorded 16 catches for 226 yards, Burton’s performance declined in 2024 as he only caught two passes for 49 yards. He spent most of the season with a concussion, which limited his opportunities on the field.

Riley appeared in 24 games over three seasons at Auburn, recording 200 snaps. During his time as a Tiger, he recorded three catches for 43 yards and two scores.

Harris signed with Auburn as part of its 2022 signing class. Since then, he has played 48 snaps in five games between the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

After being added to the Auburn roster as a transfer from rival Alabama ahead of the 2024 season, Kite is on the move again. He appeared in five games for Auburn this season, making six tackles and one interception.

The most significant departure early in the transfer portal cycle is safety Caleb Wooden. Wooden logged 591 snaps over the last three seasons and had an average grade of 69.6, according to Pro Football Focus. He leaves Auburn having recorded 41 tackles and two interceptions.

True freshman TJ Lindsey is leaving Auburn after one season. He appeared in one game, playing 10 snaps on August 31 against Alabama A&M.
