The French superstar failed 1-0 in the Champions League duel between Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan

Inter Milan’s superstar striker Marcus Thuram had a tough game as Bayer Leverkusen secured a narrow 1-0 win last time out.

Accordingly TMWThe French talisman was one of Inter’s least impressive players at the BayArena.

Thuram retained his place in the starting eleven after scoring his tenth Serie A goal of the season against Parma last Friday.

However, Simone Inzaghi left his attacking partner Lautaro Martinez on the bench in favor of Mehdi Taremi.

Unlike other UEFA Champions League games this season, Inzaghi’s decision last night wasn’t about the money.

Thuram has been Inter’s standout attacker this season.

The former Borussia Mönchengladbach star was familiar with the opponent and went into the game in top form.

But things didn’t work out for him on his return to Germany as Leverkusen kept him at arm’s length throughout the game.

A lack of support from Taremi often left the 27-year-old alone against Xabi Alonso’s entire defense.

Due to Inter’s inconsistent performance, Leverkusen goalkeeper Matej Kovar didn’t have to make a single save.

With Taremi and Thuram at the helm, they bore much of the blame for the visitors’ ineffective offensive performance.

Hopefully Thuram will give his best against Lazio next week.
