Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the USA! “Today’s Strands” offers a nice contrast to “Connections,” another NYT daily puzzle game; Where this uses Thanksgiving as a devilish way to throw off puzzle solvers, Strands plays it straight, simply asking people to come up with words related to the holiday.
There’s nothing wrong with that of course, but it’s unlikely to ever pose a real challenge and I wonder if Strands has a long-term future. Anyway, even a Brit like me was able to solve this problem, although I have to admit I had no idea that ROLLS or yams were part of the Thanksgiving feast. But I knew enough to get started and was able to find the others through trial and error without any mishaps.

Strands is the NYT’s new word game, following Wordle and Connections. It’s now out of beta, so it’s a fully-fledged member of the NYT Games stable and can be played on the NYT Games website on desktop or mobile.
