Taylor Swift jokes that 49ers’ Brock Purdy caused her stress at the Super Bowl

Taylor SwiftLike many Kansas City Chiefs fans, he was “very stressed” during Super Bowl LVIII.

Swift, 35, recalled her NFL Championship experience earlier this year while visiting pediatric patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City on Thursday, December 12.

“I don’t mind Brock Purdy” Swift joked to a young fan, adding, “He put a lot on me last February, so I was really stressed out for a second. In the end everything worked out well.”

Purdy, 24, is the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, who faced the Chiefs in February for a chance to win the Lombardi Trophy. Swift, of course, has been a Chiefs fan since her boyfriend Travis Kelceis a tight end for the Missouri team.

Swift and Kelce, 35, have been together for more than a year and often support each other at concerts and NFL games. While speaking with the pediatric patient, she agreed that Kelce is an elite athlete.

“I like Travis now,” the fan gushed.

Swift replied emphatically, “Yeah, me too! That’s an absolute yes,” before asking if Kelce was the “kid’s favorite player.”

“Yes, him and Patrick (Mahomes)” replied the fan, referring to the Chiefs quarterback.

“Good answer,” Swift quipped. “You can do it.”

Swift met many fans (and her fellow Swiftie parents) on Thursday and signed copies of her official letter Era’s tour book and pose for selfies. At one point, she jokingly held up a Chiefs towel that said, “Go Taylor’s Boyfriend.”

Swift admittedly wasn’t a football fan until she started dating Kelce — and now she’s creating plays. (None of the pop star’s plays have been added to the Chiefs rotation yet.)

“Football is great, it turns out,” Swift said TIME in her “Person of the Year 2023” profile. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.”

At every Chiefs game Swift attended, she was captured in fan footage cheering on Kelce and his teammates. She brought a top-class team with her to the Super Bowl in February Blake Lively, Lana Del Rey, Ice Spice and more to cheer on the Missouri team.

However, Purdy wasn’t nervous that Swift would come out in support of the opposition.

“When it comes down to it, Brock, and it’s late in the fourth quarter, are you ready to disappoint Taylor Swift?” a sports reporter asked Purdy before the big game.

With a smile, Purdy replied, “Yeah, I’ll leave it at that.”

Purdy almost came true as Super Bowl LVIII came to an end – and it went into overtime. Ultimately, the Chiefs earned a 25-22 victory. Swift celebrated with Kelce on the field and punctuated the moment with a sweet kiss on the sideline.
