In this week’s Saturday Night Live midweek promo, host Chris Rock has some interesting alternative SNL stories to share with a traveling group.

With Chris Rock And Gracie Abrams this week and Martin Short And Hozier Scheduled for next week, we have reached the end of the calendar year. That’s what NBC means Saturday Night Live There’s just under two weeks left until the much-needed winter break – but when will the show return in 2025? Well, then the 50th season celebrations really begin (more on that in a moment). But with a new show this week, it’s time to turn our attention back to the listening and now, with rock and SNL mainstays Jane Wickline (we’re big fans) are taking part in this week’s midweek sketch. We don’t want to give too much away (David Spade was bitten What – And Where was he bitten?!?), but let’s just say that Rock has some very interesting “insights” into SNL history.

SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night docuseries will debut on Peacock in January

Only two shows remain for NBC in 2024 Saturday Night LiveWe’re taking a first look at what’s in store in 2025 to celebrate the 50th season of the long-running late-night sketch comedy and music series. Before we get to the big celebration on February 16th: Peacock and Oscar and Emmy Award winners Morgan Neville gives us an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at what makes the show an enduring and influential institution. Featuring more than 60 contributors, including alumni, the four-part episode covers decades of SNL history SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night reveals new insights into the show’s history, revealing everything from the writers’ room to the famous audition. With all four episodes hitting Peacock on January 16th, here’s what you can expect:

Peacocks SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night is a four-part documentary honoring SNL’s legacy with over 60 contributors, including SNL alumni, covering decades of SNL history. Each episode highlights some of the show’s most iconic elements, delves into SNL’s rich history, and provides insight into the audition process, the writers’ room, the fan-favorite “More Cowbell” sketch, and the pivotal Season 11.

Episode 101, “Five Minutes” – A showcase of the SNL audition process, featuring never-before-seen audition footage and first-hand accounts from some of the show’s biggest names as they reflect on their preparation and journey to the SNL stage.

Episode 102, “Written by: A Week Inside The SNL Writers Room” – A behind-the-scenes look at the SNL writing process from script to screen, capturing the creativity and chaos of a week in the SNL writers’ room.

Episode 103, “More Cowbell” – A deep dive into the making of the iconic SNL sketch “More Cowbell,” examining how a simple idea became a cultural phenomenon and a tribute to sketch comedy’s lasting impact.

Episode 104, “Season 11: The Strange Year” – An exploration of SNL Season 11, examining the pivotal year that realigned the show’s direction and cemented its enduring DNA with Lorne Michaels at the helm.
