NFL legend Randy Moss revealed he is secretly battling cancer.

“I’ve been telling you all for the last few weeks that I’m struggling with something inside and that your boy is a cancer survivor,” the 47-year-old retired athlete announced in a shocking Instagram Live video on Friday.

“I have been in the hospital for six days. I just got out today – thank God!”

Moss shared that he underwent surgery to have a stent placed in his liver because his waste was leaking into his urine. Then doctors discovered he actually had cancer.

“They found it in the intestinal tract, right between the pancreas and the liver,” said the former New England Patriots wide receiver.

“So my doctors…they went in, I had a six-hour operation. Dr. Martini, you’re the man, I had Whipple surgery. I am forever grateful.

According to the Mayo Clinic, a Whipple procedure is a surgery to treat tumors and other diseases of the pancreas, small intestine, and bile ducts that require the removal of the head of the pancreas, the first part of the small intestine, the gallbladder, and the bile duct be removed.

Moss recognized that these were “trying times” for him, but was grateful that he had “made it through.”

The host also addressed his absence from Sunday NFL Countdown, which he took a break from earlier this month. The Hall of Famer did not previously share what he was battling, only asking for prayers.

He added via Instagram at the time: “I’m fighting something, man, and it’s something internal. Your boy will do it. I have a great medical team and a great family around me. All men, do your check-ups and do your blood tests.”

On Friday, Moss guaranteed his return to his show, saying, “I promise you I will be back on set. I miss you and hope I can be with you soon.”

Following his revelation, fans and friends flooded the former Minnesota Vikings player’s Instagram account with well wishes and lots of love.

In a special tribute, the Patriots’ Instagram account wrote: “We celebrated so many great catches from Randy Moss during his Hall of Fame career, but none were more important than his most recent catch.” Randy Moss doesn’t lose one-on-one battles.

“Cancer is about to take Mossed and Patriots fans around the world will continue to celebrate!” 🙏❤️”
