“The blessings continue to pour in”

“The blessings continue to pour in”

Lainey Wilson is arguably having the best year of her life. In 2024 alone, the 32-year-old singer won seven awards, including the Grammy Award for Best Country Album, the ACM Awards for Entertainer of the Year, Female Artist of the Year and the People’s Choice Award for Country Music Event of the Year -Female Artist of the Year and the CMA Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the Year. But that’s not all. This year, Lainey checked off a few other things on her bucket list, including opening her own Bell bottom style bar on Lower Broadway and appearances in Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show. After one Whirlwind 2020, the “Good Horses” singer is ready to close out 2024, but not before kicking things off with a bang: a one-night show “Wildflowers and Wild Horses,” sponsored by T-Mobile, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this Saturday, December 14th.

We sat down with Lainey ahead of her last hurray to reflect on this milestone year and gauge what’s next for the country phenom. Make yourself comfortable and scroll for a while.

“It feels great – I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be,” Lainey says Country life after looking back on her successes of the year. “I’ve lived in Nashville for 13 years – I moved here when I was 19. I feel like all the hard work is finally paying off, it’s fun, it’s exciting, and it feels like one door after another is opening and blessings keep pouring in. It’s a good place to be.”

Speaking of doors opening, Lainey assures us that this Sunday, December 15th, she… returns to the Yellowstone Screen for the Season 5 finale.

“Yes, I’ll be there,” she promises. “We got to shoot our final part at Billy Bob’s, which I think is honky-tonk heaven. It was just great and I’ve played at Billy Bob’s a few times and every time we go there we feel like we’re at home, so it was a great place for us to end it.”

These days, more and more famous cameos are making their way Yellowstone But as you may recall, Lainey was one of the first non-actors to join the cast. Before her character Abby was even created, however, Lainey’s melodies set the tone Yellowstone on more than one occasion.

“I really enjoyed sharing my music before I even got the spot as Abby on the show,” she says. “They had included a few of my songs on the show and really just introduced me to a lot of people who hadn’t heard of my music. I mean, people would come up to me at my shows and say, “Oh, I found you through those.” Yellowstone “Playlist and soundtrack” and all those things, and it just shows me how important and powerful the music in that show really was for artists.”

Eventually – and to Lainey’s surprise – showrunner Taylor Sheridan realized that her singing deserved a place outside the background.

“I developed a friendship with Taylor Sheridan and a few years after we met at an equestrian competition, he said, ‘Hey, I want to create a character just for you.’ And you can sing your songs, but call another name: Abby’ and I said, “Well, I’ve never acted in my life.” And he said, “Well, I think you can do it.” And I (thought), ‘Well, if he thought I could do it, then I guess I can,’ and so I dove in headfirst.”

What was your biggest takeaway from working on the show? Embrace the unknown and have a little faith in the process.

“My favorite thing about taking part in the show is that I was able to just stand next to the stage and learn from some of the best actors and actresses I’ve ever seen – I was thrown into the fire, but sometimes you can learn a lot from it “, she reveals. “What I’ve learned from all of this is that I just like to be creative and I like to step outside the box and try things that maybe I didn’t necessarily sign up for, but for my songwriting and the other things that I’ve been working on that, what I’ve been doing for so long has kind of led me to these other opportunities. “So I want to make sure I don’t say no to things just because they’re a little scary.”

That’s what’s special about Lainey Wilson: She’s not afraid to face her fears, push boundaries, believe in herself and aim for the stars – and that’s something she and her lover pass on to the next generation want to pass on to young women Cowgirl of the night Segment.

“My mom always believed that the way you talk to yourself is very powerful,” Lainey tells us. “And sometimes we’re all human – and especially us girls, I mean, we have our days, you know? And it’s important to get up and look in the mirror every now and then and say, “I’m beautiful, I’m smart, I’m talented,” so that on that day you can do whatever it is you said , that you would do it – just pull yourself up by the bonds. And even though I’m out there with these little girls and teaching them these little tricks that sometimes work for me, it’s also kind of a reminder for myself; Every time I say it and they repeat it to me, I’m saying it to myself. And you have to say it and believe it from your mouth to God’s ears.”

One cowgirl of the night who undoubtedly believed in her ability to become Lainey’s best friend was none other than Savannah, the little girl who captured everyone’s hearts with her exciting storytelling and eagerness to show off to Lainey on stage . And don’t you know that Lainey actually called her?

“I actually got (Savannah’s) phone number and called her the other day and we FaceTimed and she was just as sweet on FaceTime as she was on stage,” Lainey says. “I mean, she was just – you can’t tell what this girl is going to do in her life because she was such a go-getter, she wasn’t afraid of anything; She showed me around her house and introduced me to her cats and her whole family was there. It was so sweet.”

Speaking of little ones, Lainey is preparing to add a third little boy to her pack of nephews — just in time for the holidays.

“My sister is having her third baby next week, so I’m going to have three little nephews and it’s just going to be so much fun,” she marvels. “It feels like our family continues to change and grow, so it seems like every year the traditions kind of change, but really (the holidays) are all about the kids and being with my parents being together and being at home in Louisiana – my dad, he loves delivering turkeys to a lot of people in Baskin, my hometown, and we make it kind of a tradition – and singing Christmas carols with my cousins and just doing everything the simple things.”

In this way, Lainey is just like us. She may be the most famous country artist of the year, but she’s as down to earth as they come. And on that note, always remaining honest, Lainey says she’ll be wearing stretchy pants like the rest of us this holiday season.

“If they don’t stretch, I don’t want them,” laughs Lainey while discussing her iconic flared pants wardrobe. Your favorite brands for the exaggerated bell bottoms? “My Wranglers, of course – I wore Wrangler jeans before I could even walk; “My parents let me sit on horseback in my Wranglers,” she says their collaboration with the brand and think about why it is so special to them. “And there’s a company called Cat O Nine that I really love. I think she’s from south Louisiana – she has an Etsy shop and I found her through that – and she makes great, great flares that are super stretchy.”

Before Lainey goes into vacation mode, however, she’s heading to Las Vegas for her final show of 2024 alongside Mae Estes and Tracy Lawrence.

“We are very excited to end the year in Las Vegas NFR“I feel at home every time I go out this time of year because there are cowboys and cowgirls everywhere and it’s just so much fun,” she says. “(We) try to make something like this an annual event. I know George Strait used to do something where he had a show every year around the NFR.”

“I really love collaborating – at the end of the day it’s just fun to kind of like, whether it’s your song or their song, it’s fun to be able to step into someone else’s world; It’s fun to perform at their shows or have them perform at yours… so we’ll see what happens in 2025,” she says.

Something we can count on? More music from Miss Lainey Wilson. “I’m always writing,” she reveals. “Honestly, before ours Whirlwind By the time the record came out I was already writing for the next one. I would consider myself a songwriter before I consider myself an artist, so I’m always kind of in the middle.”
