Lions fan who had heated exchange with LaFleur loses season tickets

The Detroit Lions fan who gained well over five minutes of fame after a pregame altercation with Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur despite trying to explain his actions has reportedly had his season tickets revoked.

Fahad Yousif had told WXYZ-TV that he was “caught in the moment” in his heated verbal exchange with LaFleur after he made a throat-slashing gesture toward Packers players before the game.

“We’re about 5, 10 yards from the sideline, just looking at all the players and definitely letting them know you’re going down, you’re done, it’s over, let them know we’re going to beat you.” “Twice, once at home, once here and (LaFleur) didn’t like it,” Yousif said. “After I did the neck cut he completely lost it, which I understand. I mean, I was caught up in the moment and the fans and the adrenaline and everything, but it was crazy.”

Yousif was on the field as part of a group carrying the U.S. flag, but was taken off the field by Lions staff after the incident. He was told to leave the game before halftime.

After the game, LaFleur expressed his perspective on the situation.

“He talked nonsense to our players, gave them the signal to cut their throats, and then when you try to de-escalate it, he gets in my face,” LaFleur said last Thursday. “Well, I thought it was pretty unsportsmanlike. I’ve never seen that before. I’ve been to a lot of fields and they usually control it a lot better.”

Earlier this week, the Lions informed Yousif that his season tickets had been revoked.

“At this time, your season tickets have been revoked and your eligibility to become a Lions Loyal Member has been suspended indefinitely,” an email to Yousif said, according to Woodward Sports Network. “A refund (less fees) is required to reconcile your account.” The remaining Lions tickets on your account will be refunded using the same payment method you used to make the initial payment.”
