As a big, clever elf once said, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to sing loudly for all to hear.”

Or just visit Elf’d Up, the elf-themed pop-up bar in Wrigleyville that pays homage to the 2003 cult classic.

Located at 3485 N. Clark Street, Stretch Bar and Grill is open Thursday through Sunday. Inside, dozens of ornaments hang from the ceiling, including Christmas trees, lights, more than 1,000 decorative elves and scenes from the movie.

Fans of the film will notice the menu, which makes several references to the film, including cocktails like “Naughty Coffee” and “Mr. Narwhal.”

Chicago Today’s Matt Rodrigues visited this week, as did Buddy the Elf himself – or rather, a pretty good look-alike – who frequents the bar on the weekends.

In addition to cocktails and drinks, the menu also features movie-themed food, including “Buddy’s Famous Breakfast Pasta,” which is, of course, made up of the four main food groups, according to organizers: candy, candy canes, corn and syrup.

“Good news,” the Will Ferrell lookalike told Rodrigues on Friday. “I ate a whole roll of cookie dough this morning.”

The bar is first come, first served and no reservations, organizers said. Opening times usually change weekly. Children and people under 21 are welcome during the day.

The bar is expected to remain open until January 5th.
