The Las Vegas Raiders couldn’t do much on offense in the first half of their Week 15 game against the Atlanta Falcons, which obviously impacted veteran wide receiver Jakobi Meyers.
The Raiders mustered just three points and 80 yards of total offense, including just 41 yards through the air, in the first two quarters of Monday night’s contest. The struggles are no surprise, as Las Vegas was forced to start Desmond Ridder due to injuries to Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell.
While Ridder hit several players in the first half, he has yet to target a wide receiver. Here’s a closer look at what’s going on with Meyers through two quarters of Week 15.
Is Jakobi Meyers playing tonight?
UPDATE: Meyers was actually targeted in the third quarter and made a catch, but unfortunately it was erased due to a Raiders penalty.
END OF UPDATE
Meyers was on the injury report this week but was cleared and removed from the injury report on Saturday. He’s active, healthy and on the field, he just hasn’t been targeted yet.
Meanwhile, Ridder threw passes to tight ends Michael Mayer and Brock Bowers and running backs Sincere McCormick and Ameer Abdullah. So far, not a single wide receiver has been thrown a pass.
It’s hard to say we’re surprised at the Raiders’ ineptitude, as that was to be expected with Ridder under center. Ridder’s performance is made worse by the fact that the Falcons have a bottom-10 pass defense.
Hopefully things go better for Meyers in the second half.
