Friends and family are remembering teenagers killed in a crash in southeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — More than a hundred people gathered in southeast Fresno Monday evening to remember 15-year-old Antarpreet Singh and 14-year-old Harjap Singh.

According to Fresno police, the two teens were riding a motorcycle on Sunnyside Avenue when they collided with a pickup truck around 8 p.m. Sunday evening.

“It looked really bad, so at that point I just did the first thing I could think of and started praying for him,” said witness Rebecca Zambrano.

Zambrano was driving home when she saw the tragic scene.

She stopped and saw the teens breathing heavily.

“I just didn’t want him to be alone at that moment. You know, his mom couldn’t be there, so I just didn’t want him to be alone,” Zambrano said.

Officials said the boys were not wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

The driver and passenger in the van were not injured.

Harjap, 14, was a student at the Central Unified School District.

In a statement, the district wrote, among other things:

“We recognize the profound impact of this loss on our community and want to reassure students, staff and families that support is in place to help those affected by this tragedy.”

“There are no words to express my thoughts, my deepest condolences go out to the family,” said Sanger Unified School District Board of Trustees member Brandon Vang.

Vang said the boys are not students in his district but have many friends who are.

“Sanger Unified is ready and able to respond to the needs of our students and family,” Vang said.

Friends said the two celebrated Harjap’s 14th birthday on Sunday.

As the community tries to deal with this devastating loss, their main focus, friends say, is supporting Antarpreet and Harjap’s parents.

“We are ensuring that they are fully supported in the community because their lives have completely changed,” said Harpreet Bining, a family friend.

Investigators with the Fresno Police Department are still investigating the accident and are also investigating what happened before the collision.
