The New Orleans Causeway Bridge was closed after an 11-car accident

Causeway Police are urging motorists to avoid the Causeway Bridge after several accidents on Tuesday morning. According to Causeway Police, 11 cars were involved in a crash on the bridge. The accident occurred on the southbound bridge near mile marker 18. Two other traffic jam-related accidents were also reported. According to Causeway police, injuries have been reported in the accidents and people may be taken to area hospitals for treatment. Due to the accidents, both the north and south bridges are closed. Motorists are asked to use the Twin Span in Slidell as an alternate route.
