Frank Bellotti, former lieutenant governor and attorney general of Mass., dies at 101 – NBC Boston

Frank Bellotti, the lieutenant governor and attorney general of Massachusetts who was 101, has died, his family announced Tuesday.

Bellotti served as a Navy SEAL during World War II and throughout his life left an indelible mark on the world of law, politics and business. His wife, Maggie Bellotti, died less than a year ago at the age of 98.

“His life spanned more than a century and was entirely dedicated to the service of others,” the Bellotti family said. “He was always a devoted family man. He and Maggie lovingly raised twelve children, instilling in them the values ​​of discipline, leadership and compassion.”

The family’s statement continued: “Many remember him as Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General of Massachusetts, and we continue to hear stories from countless people who considered him a mentor. He shaped politics with integrity and wisdom and always strived to positively impact the lives of those he led.”

Norfolk County Treasurer Michael Bellotti, who served in the Massachusetts House in the 1990s, said: “My father was my North Star and always supported me, as he did all of his children. I will miss our conversations about his rich political past dating back to the 60s and we will forever remember the Sunday dinners we shared together for over 50 years.”

Bellotti leaves behind 11 children, 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Information about the arrangements will be announced soon, the family said.
