Drug investigations lead police to 13 locations in the Des Moines area

Law enforcement agencies executed 13 search warrants in the Des Moines area in an apparent drug investigation

Multiple law enforcement agencies executed more than a dozen search warrants around the Des Moines metro early Wednesday morning as part of an apparent drug investigation. Des Moines police said they were working with federal and state authorities on the search warrants Wednesday morning. According to the department, the investigation initially began with an opioid-related overdose death in early 2024. The U.S. Department of Justice provided locations for the warrants in the Des Moines area: 700 block of SE 6th Street, Des Moines 4700 block of 64th Street, Urbandale 5800 Block of Urbandale Avenue, Des Moines600 block of Kenyon Avenue, Des Moines7300 block of SE 19th Street, Des Moines3000 block East University Avenue, Des Moines200 East Edison Avenue, Des Moines7200 block SE 5th Street, Des Moines800 block Knob Hill Drive, Des Moines14000 block Lakeview Drive, Clive1200 block East 34th Street, Des Moines5200 block Douglas Avenue, Des Moines3700 block of East Sheridan Avenue, Des Moines, investigators and agents from the DOJ said they were FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Drug Enforcement Administration participated in the searches. Investigators did not say whether any arrests were made.   • 700 block of SE 6th Street, Des Moines
  • 4700 block of 64th Street, Urbandale
  • 5800 block of Urbandale Avenue, Des Moines
  • 600 block of Kenyon Avenue, Des Moines
  • 7300 block of SE 19th Street, Des Moines
  • 3000 block of East University Avenue, Des Moines
  • 200 East Edison Avenue, Des Moines
  • 7200 block of SE 5th Street, Des Moines
  • 800 block of Knob Hill Drive, Des Moines
  • 14000 block of Lakeview Drive, Clive
  • 1200 block of East 34th Street, Des Moines
  • 5200 block of Douglas Avenue, Des Moines
  • 3700 block of East Sheridan Avenue, Des Moines

According to the DOJ, investigators and agents from the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and the Drug Enforcement Administration participated in the searches.

Investigators did not say whether any arrests were made. Des Moines police said all search warrant scenes were secure Wednesday morning after the search warrants were executed.
