Kirk Herbstreit interviews Beau Pribula, who is leaving Penn State early

Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula decided to join the NCAA Transfer portal He made a splash across college football over the weekend and caught the attention of Kirk Herbstreit.

Pribula appeared to be the starting quarterback waiting for the Nittany Lions, but with Drew Allar Although he wants to return to Happy Valley in 2025, he is looking for opportunity elsewhere. “We’ve been talking about this for so long, you know how crazy this is,” Herbstreit began. “It’s easy to blame the players. I think it’s easy to say, ‘How selfish are these guys?’ But I think if you put yourself in their shoes, I think the calendar and the way it’s set up is difficult. “I know it’s kind of a revolving door, especially at this point when it comes to the portal. Some of these people are trying to get re-recruited, so to speak, as if they were high school seniors again, trying to figure out who would be the best fit for them. So maybe he felt like he had to come visit before someone else took the spot he wanted while his team was playing in those playoff games. He has to attend these schools. That’s the only thing I can think of as to why he left the team.”

Regardless, Pribula’s absence from the playoffs would be a major loss for Penn State, as he appeared in every game this season and was able to provide a different look at opposing defenses with a number of plays. Playing primarily with his legs, he rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season. He also had 275 passing yards and five touchdowns in 12 games before the Big Ten Championship.

He’ll be a hot name in the transfer portal and Beau Pribula is only doing what’s best for his future. Unfortunately, the timing and college football calendar don’t work in his favor, and Kirk Herbstreit hopes this gets fixed in the future.
