PSG keeper Donnarumma is bleeding from the face with his shoe

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s face was bloodied after he was hit by an opponent’s stud during the team’s 4-2 Ligue 1 win over Monaco on Wednesday.

The Italian international grabbed the cleats of Wilfried Singo’s football boot in the 17th minute at the Stade Louis II.

Singo, whose shot had been blocked, tried to jump over the sliding Donnarumma but instead hit him in the face.

Images showed Donnarumma had suffered a cut below his right eye. Singo, who had already been warned, was lucky to avoid a red card.

Donnarumma remained lying on the pitch during treatment. Eventually he got up and walked away, to be replaced by Matvei Safonov.

The win leaves Luis Enrique’s PSG 10 points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table, but the capital club is struggling with the new Champions League format and is currently unable to progress with two games left to play .

Monaco remained in third place, level on points with second-placed Marseille, which still has a game in hand.

The game was brought forward due to a scheduling conflict with the Trophée des Champions between the two clubs in Doha on January 5, the weekend the French league resumes.
