Rachel Wants to Own the ‘Survivor’ Challenge Record in Final Deleted Scene (Exclusive)

Rachel Wants to Own the ‘Survivor’ Challenge Record in Final Deleted Scene (Exclusive)

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for the season finale of Survivor 47.

Rachel LaMont was crowned the winner Survivor 47 on Wednesday night’s season finale, and she made history in the process. When she emerged victorious in the final immunity competition of the season, Rachel joined Kelly Wiglesworth, Jenna Morasca, Kim Spradlin and Chrissy Hofbeck as the only women to win four individual immunity competitions in one season.

It’s a record that host Jeff Probst mentioned a few times during the show, and as an exclusive deleted scene from the finale now shows, it was a record that Rachel was determined to achieve. The scene above begins with the tribe receiving their final Tree Mail message, read aloud by Sue Smey: “Many dream of the Final Four. Survivors The status doesn’t get much higher. Tonight only one will give up power. And two fight to make a fire.”

The group can’t decipher any helpful clues from this cryptic text, but everyone has thoughts about the meaning of the upcoming competition. “This is without question the most important immunity challenge of the game,” explains Sam Phalen in a confessional interview. “That’s why you play Survivorsfor a moment like this and an opportunity like this, and there is no choice but to win.”

Teeny Chirichillo also knows what it’s about. “Everything is at stake in this final immunity challenge,” they note. “Obviously I didn’t need an immunity necklace to get to this point, but I think this is the necklace I need to win to make sure I get to the end.”

Sue, for her part, talks about having to change her attitude in the final days of the game. “It’s funny because now that we’re the final four, you walk through the woods and automatically look for an idol,” Sue explains. “And I’m like, Oh, game over. This game is ready. Remove it from your brain. Now moving forward, focus on the next immunity challenge. That’s all I have to focus on today. I don’t have to focus on anything other than figuring out whatever I’m going to do in this next challenge and doing everything in my power to bring out every ounce of strength, brains, and agility that I need to win that challenge . I have to win this challenge and I would like to end this season by winning the final necklace.”

Of course this wouldn’t happen with Sue, Teeny or Sam. Instead, Rachel would emerge victorious once again – an outcome that was almost certain when it was announced that the competition ended in a mystery. And while Rachel obviously also has outstanding fire-making skills, she leaves no doubt in this deleted scene that she was very aware of this and wanted to tie the record for most individual wins by a woman in the immunity challenge.

“I had to win the last few votes to survive and I have to win today,” says Rachel. “I want that record of four immunity wins. I feel like this upcoming immunity challenge is my final push. It’s the final where I think if I win that, maybe I can win it all. And yes, it’s so important that I get to decide who lights the fire. It’s so important that I have the freedom of choice today and that’s why I really hope to get the win.”

That wouldn’t be the only important thing Rachel gained in this episode. To watch the entire scene for yourself, watch the video at the top of the article.
