Rashford’s ‘new challenge’ should be to become a ‘Man Utd legend’ rather than taking ‘the easy way out’.

Rashford’s ‘new challenge’ should be to become a ‘Man Utd legend’ rather than taking ‘the easy way out’.

Marcus Rashford’s latest “challenge” may be to turn his Man Utd career around and get the club back to the top, says Chris Waddle.

Man Utd supposedly want Rashford left in the winter transfer window after Ruben Amorim left the player out of his squad for Sunday’s Manchester derby against Man City.

The England international was also there uninvolved in Man Utd’s Carabao Cup trip to Tottenham on Thursday evening.

After he wasn’t there against City, Rashford said he was ready to take on a new challenge.

“Personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” he said in an interview with Henry Winter.

“When I leave, there will be ‘no hard feelings.’ You won’t get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. This is me as a person.

“If I know a situation is already bad, I won’t make it worse. I’ve seen other players leave in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I will make a statement, and it will be from myself.”

Former England winger Waddle believes Rashford is looking for the wrong challenge and is actually taking “the easy way out” by leaving.

“We know he is a talented footballer,” Waddle said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He has played a lot of football over the years for arguably the biggest football club in the world. So if you’re looking for a challenge – wouldn’t you like to put Manchester United back on the map? In my opinion there is no bigger club in the world than United.

“Just because you have that talent, that’s what’s on top. Why would anyone spend £100 million on someone who you don’t know what you’re getting? And if you upset them a little, you’re stuck with a player who has a big contract worth a fortune.

“He’s faced with a challenge where he could roll up his sleeves and say, ‘I’m going to be a United legend here – I want to get this club back to where it should be.'” That’s the challenge, not “I want one.” another challenge.” That’s the easy way out.

“With his ability he should win games for Man Utd almost every week. He should be unplayable.

“They have a new coach who is trying to get some rhythm going – after a great win at Manchester City. He should think, “I want to be a part of this, I can see something happening here and I want to be on this team.”

“I wouldn’t pick a player who isn’t in the right frame of mind.”
