Patrick Mahomes, Hollywood Brown, officially active for the Chiefs-Texans

Although there was little doubt that this would be the case during practice week, Patrick Mahomes is officially active for Saturday’s matchup between the Chiefs and Texans.

Mahomes participated fully in practice all week and had no injury report, although head coach Andy Reid left the door open in his press conference Friday, saying, “We will most likely end up playing him.”

Mahomes has completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 3,348 yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions this season.

The Chiefs will also have another weapon on the field at receiver as Hollywood Brown is active and set to make his debut in Kansas City. He was sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained in the first preseason game. Brown signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs in the offseason.

While Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal was placed on the injury report Friday due to an illness, he is active.

Kansas City’s inactives include defensive back Chamarri Conner, defensive end Joshua Uche, offensive lineman CJ Hanson, left tackle DJ Humphries, offensive tackle Ethan Driskell, defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu and defensive end Malik Herring.

There were no surprises for the Texans on the inactive list. While linebacker Christian Harris was listed as questionable after not playing in Thursday’s game due to an ankle injury, he is active.

Receiver John Metchie, linebacker Devin White, defensive end Jerry Hughes, guard Nick Broeker, offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, tight end Cade Stover and defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi are inactive for Houston.

Having already won the AFC West, the Chiefs will lock up the No. 1 seed in the AFC this weekend with a win and a Buffalo loss to New England.
