Firefighters fight against company fire

OGUNQUIT, Maine – Firefighters in Ogunquit are battling a major fire in Perkins Cove.

Firefighters were called to Perkins Cove at 7:17 p.m. for a report of a structure fire on Perkins Cove Road. When emergency services arrived, they discovered a serious fire in the building, which houses unique items and antiques. The Oarweed Restaurant, which is closed during the season, is adjacent to the property.

A second fire alarm has been sounded and mutual aid from Wells, Kennebunk, York, South Berwick and other agencies are now on scene.

The Wells Fire Department posted on Facebook that “multiple buildings were impacted.”

Uniques and Antiques posted on Facebook that the owner, “Rusty and his staff are doing well.”

“This is a heartbreaking shock and we thank everyone who has come forward,” they wrote. “We ask for continued prayers for everyone, including our neighbors at Oarweed Restaurant and our other friends on the Bay. Thank you to the first responders. We will release more information when we can.”
