Drake London tackles Giants defense after Falcons interception

The Atlanta Falcons entered a new era on Sunday, replacing high-paid Kirk Cousins with rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. as they try to compete in the NFC South. It took a while to get the wheels turning as Atlanta went scoreless in the first quarter but improved to 17 points in the second quarter thanks to a pick-six from Jessie Bates III and a touchdown run from Bijan Robinson.

The Falcons had a chance to score more points before halftime, but Penix Jr. sabotaged that chance by throwing an interception near the Giants’ goal line. Falcons wideout Drake London made the tackle on the return – and a fight ensued that led to a hit.

London didn’t react kindly to Giants defenders pulling him away from cornerback Cor’Dale Flott, who intercepted the ball. As the New York players surrounded him, London began pushing and shoving, eventually getting into a fight with nearly the entire defense, highlighted by him throwing a punch at defender Elijah Garcia.

Quite a scene. And London was spared serious consequences: The Falcons’ receiver was warned for unnecessary roughness but was not sent off, and the Giants couldn’t do anything with the extra 15 yards they gained on the return before halftime.
