Dallas Cowboys and Tampa Bay Buccaneers recap: Results, highlights, news

1st quarter

The Dallas Cowboys won the toss, their first win of the day after being eliminated from playoff contention and opted to receive. Cooper Rush was upstairs.

This first drive was methodical, as Cooper Rush completed all six attempted passes; However, the Cowboys stayed ahead and barely managed any shots down the field. Ultimately, things stalled a bit and they had to settle for a 58-yard field goal attempt, which Brandon Aubrey converted with (shocking) relative ease.

When Tampa Bay took over, they started moving relatively easily until things got a little difficult in midfield. Ultimately, the Buccaneers tried on fourth-and-short, and although Baker Mayfield found a wide-open receiver, Sterling Shepard dropped him and handed the ball to the Cowboys.

The Cowboys immediately went to work on their next drive. Cooper Rush got a big lead over Brandin Cooks that put them in position to threaten a touchdown this time. Cooper rush soon found Jalen Tolbert in the back of the end zone with one of the most beautiful throws and catches you will ever see.

Tampa’s next possession also appeared to reach the goal on fourth-and-short, but this time the Bucs decided to swat it away. The Dallas offense took the field for the third time in the game and had a 10-0 lead.

The quarter ended with Dallas facing 3rd and 8 from their own 22 players.
