Christmas forecast: what to expect on this holiday
With millions traveling and looking to enjoy time with loved ones this holiday season, FOX’s Mike Pache’s LiveNOW checked in with Fox Weather’s Haley Meier to take a look at your holiday forecast.
If you need any last minute shopping or gifts on Christmas Day, you may be out of luck.
Most stores, restaurants and other businesses will be closed on Christmas Day to allow workers to spend time with their own families. However, there are also some shops whose doors are open (albeit with limited opening hours).
Here you can find out which shops are open and closed at Christmas.

Grocery and convenience stores are open on Christmas

Albertsons: Shops will be open with reduced hours on Christmas Eve and while many will remain closed on Christmas Day, some may remain open with reduced hours. Check out your local market before you go.
Circle K: Many locations are open 24 hours a day, including Christmas Day.
Safeway: Stores will be open with reduced hours on Christmas Eve, and while many will remain closed on Christmas Day, some Safeway locations will be open with adjusted hours. Check with your local store to confirm.

Starbucks: Some Starbucks are open on Christmas Day, but hours vary by location. Stop by your local Starbucks before you head out.
Walgreens: Many locations will remain open on Christmas Day, but with reduced opening hours. If your local Walgreen’s is open 24 hours, it will typically be open for at least a few hours on Christmas Day, too.
7-Eleven: Many locations are open 24 hours a day, including Christmas Day.

Here’s a look at which stores will be closed on Christmas Day according to their respective websites:

- BJ’s Wholesale
- Costco
- Dollar General
- Family Dollar/Dollar Tree
- The fresh market
- Harris Teeter
- HEB
- Hy Vee
- Kroger
- Publix
- Sam’s Club
- ShopRite
- Stop & Shop
- Goal
- Trader Joe’s
- Walmart
- Wegmans
- Whole Foods
- Winn Dixie
Postal delivery
The U.S. Postal Service is open and delivering mail on Christmas Eve. However, on Christmas Day all post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery.
UPS and FedEx are also closed on Christmas Day.
Banks
The banks are closed on Christmas. Most banks follow the Federal Reserve’s holiday schedule, which includes Christmas Day. Many banks will be open on Christmas Eve, but with limited hours.
Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange are also closed on Christmas Day.
Courts and government agencies
All federal, state and local government offices will be closed on Christmas Day. The courts are also closed.
