Caitlin Clark, Jan Jensen and the Iowa Basketball Family honor Jamie Cavey-Lang

On Dec. 23, the Iowa Hawkeyes athletic department announced on its website: “Jamie Cavey-Lang, former University of Iowa basketball player and radio color analyst, passed away Saturday after a tough battle with cancer.”

“Cavey-Lang, 41, has stepped away from assisting Rob Brooks on the radio call following the 2022/23 season. She has been part of the radio team since the beginning of 2016/17.”

Cavey-Lang was clearly revered in the Hawkeyes basketball community, as several former Hawkeyes family members have paid tribute to her since this sad news was announced.

Former Hawkeyes guard and current Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark posted a photo on her Instagram Story of her and Cavey-Lang talking after a game with the caption, “🖤🖤🖤 will cherish the special memories we have with You were allowed to share” reposted.

She also posted a photo of her and Cavey-Land hugging with the caption: “…This is Jamie. No matter the situation or circumstances, from the moment we trained her to the moment she called our games and saw her in Carver or in random places… we always have the best hug and the brightest get a smile. ❤️ May we hug and smile today – for her.

Kate Martin, the former Hawkeyes star player and current Golden State Valkyries guard, posted a photo of her and Cavey-Lang hugging on her Instagram Story with the caption: “One of the best and funniest people I have ever met know! We will miss her.”

Cavey-Lang was well-loved in the Hawkeyes basketball family and will be both missed and fondly remembered.
