Bruins’ Joe Sacco provides limited update following David Pastrnak’s loss to Capitals

The Boston Bruins completed their 4-1 win over the Washington Capitals without their top scorer David Pastrnak on the ice.

Pastrnak left the game at 8:38 of the second period with an upper-body injury after logging 9:00 minutes of ice time in 12 shifts and did not return in the third period.

Interim coach Joe Sacco was unable to provide a specific update on the Bruins star when speaking to the media after Boston’s win.

“He left the game with an upper-body injury,” Sacco said. “I’ll have more details on this later tonight or tomorrow.”

It’s unclear what the Bruins star is dealing with, and the absence may have just been a warning, as the club has until Friday off before traveling to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets in their first home game.

Pastrnak leads the Bruins with 35 points (12 goals and 23 assists) in 35 games this season. He is only ahead of Brad Marchand in goals this season. The Bruins captain has a team-leading 15 goals.

The Bruins have three days off for the holidays. They travel to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets in their first home game on Friday night.
