Former Super Bowl-winning coach of the Seattle Seahawks Pete Carroll is reportedly interested in returning to the NFL, and the 73-year-old appears to be eyeing the Chicago Bears’ upcoming head coaching vacancy.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news, prompting ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio to charge that the ESPN NFL Insider followed the wishes of Carroll’s agents by loudly breaking the news on Christmas Day.
Well, Schefter didn’t like that at all.
ESPN Newsbreaker reached out to X (formerly Twitter) and strongly denied Florio’s claim.
Everything you say here is 100 percent wrong. Keep it up and wish you a Merry Christmas.

“Everything you say here is 100 percent false,” Schefter wrote. “Keep it up and wish you a Merry Christmas.”
In an attempt to improve his own situation, Florio took a subtle dig at sports talk host and Wisconsin-Green Bay men’s basketball coach Doug Gottlieb, with whom Schefter also clashed on social media.
Thank God the college basketball team I coach isn’t in last place in the Horizon League. https://t.co/OiAmNGoVF5

At least Schefter wished Florio a Merry Christmas.
