Struggling pizzeria gets ,000 Christmas miracle to stay open

BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) – The power of social media became a Christmas miracle for a Baltimore pizzeria owner.

Will Fagg, the owner of Tiny Brick Oven Pizza in Maryland, said he is just days away from having to close his restaurant.

“We didn’t make any money. The market opened and anyone inside was allowed to sell alcohol, and we were never allowed to sell alcohol,” he said.

But when Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy walked into the restaurant, things changed for Fagg.

During a social media video, Portnoy gave the pizza a solid 7.9 rating and asked how much Fagg would need to stay open another year.

Fagg said he believes they could get a liquor license and stay open for about $60,000.

“Done,” said Portnoy.

His video went viral and on Christmas Eve, Tiny Brick Oven had a line out the door with phones ringing off the hook.

“We’ve never had a line like this before,” Fagg said of the crowd.

Employee Cynthia Streeter said her boss deserved this special gift the most.

She said he found her stranded in the cold after she missed her bus last weekend. He then offered her a ride home and a part-time job.

After the video went viral, donations continued to pour in.

“It’s an incredible feeling. I always had a lot of support from the community. It’s overwhelming and I really thank everyone,” said Fagg.

“It’s a Christmas miracle,” Streeter said.

Portnoy began filming pizza reviews on his app and website One Bite in 2013.
