Tragic loss: “Baby Driver” actor Hudson Meek dies in car accident

Actor Hudson Meek, best known for his role as the young version of Ansel Elgort’s character in “Baby Driver,” has died after falling from a moving vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, WVTM reports.

The accident occurred Dec. 19 when the 16-year-old suffered blunt force injuries after falling from a moving vehicle, according to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

Meek was hospitalized at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he died of his injuries on Dec. 21, the medical examiner’s office confirmed.

A statement from his Instagram account reads:

His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and made a significant impact on everyone he met.

In addition to his role in “Baby Driver,” Meek lent his voice as the lead of the children’s series “Badanamu Stories” and appeared on shows such as NBC’s “Found,” “The CW” and“Legacies” and the current thriller “The School Duel”.

Outside of his acting career, Meek played football at Vestavia High School, became a certified open water diver at age 13, and had visited all 50 states. His obituary describes him as “thoughtful and thoughtful” and “persistent when he set his mind to something.” He enjoyed nature and activities such as challenging skiing, tubing and lake wakeboarding.

His family is planning a funeral and memorial service for Saturday, Dec. 28, which will be livestreamed on Meek’s Instagram account.

Vestavia Hills police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
