Parents were arrested after a month-old boy walked off Pecos Street on Christmas Day

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. – The parents of a month-old boy were arrested after the baby was left on the median of Pecos Street in Adams County on Christmas Day.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said a good Samaritan called 911 around 9:20 a.m. after finding the baby in the area of ​​7490 Pecos Street.

The boy was taken to Colorado Children’s Hospital as a precaution.

The child appears to be 1 month old and was found in a car seat/carrier wearing only a diaper, according to ACSO. The sheriff’s office said the baby appeared to be mixed race or Hispanic.

Investigators have canvassed the neighborhood and want to speak to anyone who may have been in the area when the baby was left behind. Investigators are also looking for surveillance camera video from nearby businesses or dashcam video from drivers who were in the area at the time.

In an update on X, formerly Twitter, the sheriff’s office said investigators had located the boy’s family. His biological parents – Jarvis Sims, 42, and Christina Thurman, 33 – were arrested on child abuse charges.
