It will be foggy on the way to work on Thursday morning, but storms are possible on Friday morning

Fog during the morning commute will limit visibility for those returning to work today. An unclear pattern will return late Thursday as a line of showers and storms move across the region.

Today and tonight: A Notice of dense fog applies to all parishes in southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi until 10 a.m. Thursday morning. Drivers should take extra caution on the roads this morning.

By mid-morning the fog will clear and the sky will remain mostly cloudy. Thursday will be mild, with morning lows in the 60s and highs in the mid 70s this afternoon. Aside from a patchy shower, Thursday will be dry, with a line of showers and storms approaching the area this evening.

Storms will likely pass through in isolated ways while most sleep tonight, with a few lingering storms into the commute Friday morning. Some storms may become more severe. It is therefore recommended to turn on the weather warnings and have a way to receive them this evening if they are issued. Overnight temperatures will be mild again, in the low 60s.

Next: The unclear pattern will continue into the weekend ahead of a cold front. After the aforementioned line of storms passes by early Friday, the remainder of the day will be unseasonably warm, with highs above 70 and the possibility of a passing shower or storm. There will be heavier rain on Saturday as the cold front continues to slowly advance through the state. Occasional storm activity is expected during the day on Saturday. This front appears to finally break through on Sunday, but even that won’t cause a major drop in temperatures. There are no signs of a slowdown until at least early 2025.
